Act 2: Story With school canceled, Bart is looking forward to getting out of the house, but Marge insists that he take his sister with him. Neither is particularly thrilled with the arrangement, but they aren't willing to fight with their mother about it. They venture out to The Android's Dungeon, only to discover that the comic book store seems to have transformed overnight into a kitschy Holiday Mittens & Mugs shop, much to the children's displeasure and the proprietor's annoyance. As they look around, they realize that it's not the only shop in town to have made changes, and discover that a mysterious figure has been purchasing businesses all over the city. Lisa tries to convince Bart that they need to figure out who this mystery figure is, but he points out that if there's a mysterious figure spending a lot of money to buy businesses with shady motivations, it's probably the same culprit as always – Montgomery Burns. The two venture out to his mansion, only to discover that, for once, he isn't the culprit, and is trying to fend off a takeover himself. When the true mastermind reveals himself, neither of the children can believe it, for the shady figure turns out to be the bumbling Mr. McGrew, the blind and senile figure from the Christmas movie their father loves. But as Mr. Burns tries to throw him out, Mr. McGrew tricks him into signing control of the Nuclear Power plant over to him, much to everyone's amazement and dismay.
