Story
Lisa makes an impassioned plea to try to solve the dinosaur dilemma with real science, and everyone agrees. Unfortunately, “real science” in this instance means letting Frink use a special ray gun to enlarge and animate the town’s advertising mascots. The now-sentient Lard Lad statue agrees to lead the giants against the dinosaurs, but after Grampasaurus convinces them the humans can’t be trusted, the giant signs decide to join the dinosaurs in wrecking the city. Frink then unveils his Plan B – shrinking the Simpsons down to microscopic size in the bionaut ship and injecting them into Grampasaurus. At first Homer gets the Simpsons lost inside Grampasaurus’ body, but Marge gets them back on track and into Grampasaurus’ brain. Lisa injects him with a serum that makes him compliant to orders, and Frink is able to direct him to lead all the dinosaurs back into their secure enclosure at Geriatric Park.

Dr. Hibbert proposes using human-animal hybrids to fight the dinosaurs. Springfielders don’t want to be turned into animals, but Hibbert reveals that since he’s everyone’s doctor he already had their DNA and has already cloned and grown an army of human-animal hybrids based on the Springfielders. While Lisa balks at the morality of this, everyone else just complains about the choice of animal their clones were combined with. After a brief training regimen to prepare them to fight the dinosaurs, the human-animal hybrids are deployed against Grampasaurus and the dinosaurs, routing the dino army at first. But after the human-animals are distracted by Homer offering them orange slices and juice boxes, the dinosaurs rally and defeat the human-animal hybrids.

Story
Quimby tries to handle the situation and calm the panicking Springfielders by unleashing the Springfield Militia, which turns out to just be five guys with monster trucks. The dinosaurs, led by Grampasaurus, easily defeat them. Chalmers, over Quimby’s suspicious objections, reveals that the city has secretly built and equipped an advanced military base in case they ever need to battle the Rigellians. The Rigellians are offended by this revelation, but the plan to use it against the dinosaurs is quickly embraced by almost everyone else in Springfield. Bart doesn’t have any faith this will work, and takes Lisa to the mall to try to recruit the Over Under Beast that has coincidentally recently appeared in town. Unfortunately, the Beast tries to eat them and the kids are forced to flee. Meanwhile, Chalmers has taken command of the new Springfield military by invoking a little known clause in the charter that says any Springfield military force must be commanded by a descendant of Jebediah Springfield, which he claims to be and which may or may not be true. Chalmers, wearing a mech suit, leads the army into battle and initially has great success against the dinosaurs – until all of their equipment stops working and starts falling apart. It turns out that Quimby had been funneling money intended to maintain the equipment into building resort hotel rooms at Geriatric Park because he was bored of all the other hotel rooms in town.

Story
Burns acquires the permits he needs to build a new Geriatric Park from Quimby and constructs the park. Burns invites the elderly to stay at the park, and they flock in to stay at the resort and see the dinosaurs. In spite of assurances that he would not be creating human-dinosaur hybrids, it turns out that of course he has in fact made a couple as part of his team’s research. The unexpectedly intelligent Grampasaurus frees himself and the other dinosaurs and leads them on a rampage of Springfield. Everyone other than Lisa is surprised by this turn of events.
