Nelly, it's -17C, feels like -25 with the windchill. How is it colder here than in Canada?

Watching some of the NFL last night from Kansas City (I think it was -20c, -30 with windchill!). Made me look at some weather maps from North America today, -37c in Edmonton looked fairly chilly!!! :grimacing:

They postponed the Buffalo-Pittsburg game because of the temps in Buffalo. Some cities in Montana had windchills of -60 to -70°f.

^ There's a phrase over here - I don't know if you know it in America - used to describe cold temperatures: "it's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey". In those temperatures, that would probably actually happen.

Reddy_Rachael, yes we have that phrase as well. My mother used to use it all the time.

Nerd alert “ cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey” is often thought to b a navel phrase. On ships cannon balls were stored on brass plates, called a monkey.
